Baby Class, Hey Boone Get The Good Stuff and Various Items

Here is the skinny tonight.

We have been taking baby classes on Wed nights for the last several weeks. Last night was an in depth breathing exercises. Of course to start with you think they are a bit silly but it does not take long to realize that they will indeed make a difference. It also makes one realize that the baby is getting close...we're about 8 weeks out.

Honestly I feel the pressure, it is tough enough to make it now and with another one to take care I am not sure how we'll do it.

Hey Boone how about liquor-by-the-drink? I have watched all the comments on our radio station website and even listen to a co-worker talk on the air about the reasons not to  vote it in. And all I have to say is GIVE ME A BREAK. Every time it comes up you hear all the bible belt statements about drunk driving and underage drinking etc etc.
I have worked in bars since the age of 16 (yes sneaking me in the back door a few times to play in bands) so needless to say I have seen and heard it all over the years. If you are underage and want to drink you will find a way, I have seen it a thousand times, so I do not buy the statement that it will increase underage drinking...uhhh hello there is a ABC store in Boone and you can get just about anyone to go in and get the booze for you...especially if you give them a 5,10, or 20 note as a tip.

Plus Blowing Rock has had an ABC store for years so you don't already think that underage (mostly college kids) have been employing that technique for years???

And yes let's talk about how it will drive every local restaurant operator our of business. PLEASE!!!!! We heard that same crap when Walmart finally came to town and what happen? Who went out of business???? For the love of God Kmart is still around and they filed for bankruptcy!!!!

Ohhh and Boone will lose its charm due to the national chains coming to town??!! mmmmm how about those of us that don't always want to drive to Hickory or Johnson City to eat at Red Lobster or Olive Garden? We should be short changed because of that???   Oh yes I have heard the answer to that more than a few times "well you should move then because that is why we moved to Boone is to avoid that kind of atmosphere". What a crock of crap!!!   Here's to Boone FINALLY moving into 2008 and doing something worth while for the whole area. Damn I wish the whole county for vote on this!!! But you know, at least West Jefferson is closer than Hickory and I will give them my business for the chance to eat at national chains that have something that local business can not give me.
